Frisky or Fair

02:15
written by Eliza Lynn (Civility Records)

Story

Eliza Lynn: vocals  Barry Benjamin: guitar Jill Fromewick: harmonica John Herrmann: bass

This is another song that came on my way to Atlanta from Asheville on White Horse Road.  I could see the coin flipping through the air as I drove down this long hill.  This was the first time I recorded with Jill Fromewick who I formed a band with in 2006 called Grit Pixies.  Jill is a mighty little harp player!  Barry Benjamin was my first Piedmont Blues guitar teacher – he sure got me started in the right direction!

Lyrics

There’s a two sided coin, flipping through the air.

A two sided coin, not so rare.

A two sided coin, flipping through the air.

I never can tell if I’ll be frisky or fair.

There’s a little bit of spice in this old pious girl.

I’ll have you going along with my sweet angel curls.

When up above the crowd I’ll shout,

And shock you holy rollers with what I’ll talk about.

There’s a two sided coin, flipping through the air.

A two sided coin, not so rare.

A two sided coin, flipping through the air.

I never can tell if I’ll be frisky or fair.

One day I might be bright as the sunshine

The next day I’m wagging my tail far behind

And when I think this sassy girl is here to stay

I go on a retreat and be silent all day

There’s a two sided coin, flipping through the air.

A two sided coin, not so rare.

A two sided coin, flipping through the air.

I never can tell if I’ll be frisky or fair.
