I started writing this song in the winter of 2009-2010 while I was staying in Chicago and surrounded by snow.  This was the beginning of my experience of collapse from exhaustion from the music business and I felt like I was very fragile.  I love the juxtaposition of that sentiment with the strength of this music - it grants a levity to it.  When I was writing this that winter and gaining songwriting help from Dan Rose to finish it later, I had a sense that I wanted to write a song that was an adult version of "Nobody likes me, everybody hates me, I think I'll go eat worms."  I like the laughter that's waiting in the wings and also the truth of expressing something uncomfortable.

Lyrics

I am made of snow, I’m made of glass
I am paper thin, won’t last
I am light as air, here and gone
You are made of steel, so strong, so strong

Chorus:
You give me space to fall
Snow covers steel after all

In my hand today here and gone
Back to the place it laid so long
Dust to dust my friend, ashes to burn
Love’s eternal now, we’ll learn, we’ll learn

Stars and the moonlit sky, light years away
Long gone and back again to stay
I am made of snow, I’m made of glass
I am paper thin, won’t last, won’t last
